God longs to make his home in us. And he longs for us to make our home in him. Think of it. Christ "in us" (1 John 4:13). Our lives "hidden with Christ in God" (Colossians 3:3). What an incredible, intimate entangling of humanity and divinity! My goal is obedience-avoiding sin by following God's commands. But when I mess up. I try to choose repentance. I tell God I'm sorry and look for ways to make amends for any damage I've caused. I consciously give the Lord those things I just can't fix and resolve to do better, depending on God to make it possible. Intimacy with God? It's pretty simple, really. It's not a pillar we sit on; it's a house we live in. It's not striving to know God, but realizing that our Father longs to know us. And it's free for the taking--at lease for you and me. But we must never forget-it cost Jesus his very life. (From: "Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World")
